Canada a pack of lies

During the early 19th century Canada was desperate to have their praries settled. There had been massive amounts of land surveyed. But how to get settlers? Well, with a little bit of twisted advertising... anything was possible. Canada's praries were foreboding and almost impossible to settle. But this poster, makes the free homestead land out to be the best place on earth. The farm this family is living on has a beautiful barn set up. The chickens are well fed, and are multiplying (chicks), the pigs are fat, the livestock are healthy and the horses are large and strong. Wheat in the feild grows in abundance, and is given a rich golden color. It doesn't take and rocket sceintist to figure out what the Canadian government is getting at... come to Canada, and you will be met by prosperity and riches. The man and woman in the picture are well dressed, and healthy. There children look happy and cared for. They have such an abundance, that the man can afford to toss some of their grain into the wind. This type poster is what convinced many settlers to come to the praires. Unfortunatly they would soon find out that the praires were harsh, and the farm pictured on this poster could only be acheived with years of effort.
